Irish whiskey range makes debut with exclusive launch

Foong is excited about the partnership with West Cork Distillers.

WEST Cork Distillers, one of Ireland’s most respected and rapidly growing whiskey producers, has launched its signature range of West Cork Irish Whiskey in Malaysia.

The event at Ireland ambassador Orla Tunney’s residence in Kuala Lumpur marks a significant milestone in the brand’s global expansion and celebrates the growth of Irish whiskey worldwide.

The collection includes six whiskies in a range of blends and single malts, alongside a selection of gin and vodka.

Guests were treated to a bespoke degustation journey, where all six whiskies were paired with food curated specially for each drink.

There was also a pop-up bar that served cocktails.

“West Cork Distillers make the whole whiskey from beginning to end, so it’s quite unique in that respect,” said Tunney.

John O’Connell of West Cork Distillers sent his greetings to guests via a video message and expressed his delight that the products had reached Malaysian shores.

Foong Eu Jin of Aistana Industries (M) Sdn Bhd shared the story of how it began collaborating with West Cork Distillers, to be the importer to Malaysia.

“We are excited to partner with West Cork Distillers to bring their fine products to this vibrant market,” said Foong.

“This is just the beginning, and we look forward to seeing more whisky lovers in Malaysia enjoy the true taste of West Cork.”

The launch of West Cork Irish Whiskey in Malaysia is the latest in an increasing global appreciation for the rich heritage, craftsmanship and quality that define Irish whiskies.

At the heart of the company is a commitment to community, craftsmanship and sustainability.

It was founded in 2003 in the small fishing town of Skibbereen, County Cork, by three childhood friends.

The West Cork Classic Blends range consists of Bourbon Cask and Black Cask, both blended with grain and malt, then matured and aged in bourbon casks.

The beer series at West Cork Irish Whiskey consists of the West Cork IPA Cask and Irish Stout Cask, both blended with grain and malt, aged in first-fill bourbon casks and finished in casks that hold Blacks of Kinsale IPA or Blacks of Kinsale Stout, a brewery located about an hour from Skibbereen.

The unique single malt Maritime Irish Whiskey range is inspired by its founders and West Cork Irish Whiskey’s background.

It is presented in a masterfully crafted custom-blown spherical bottle with an off-centre spout for a smoother pour.

The range comprises rum cask, port cask, sherry cask and virgin oak cask Irish whiskey.

The port cask and sherry cask are now available in the Malaysian market.

Each bottle of West Cork Irish Whiskey is triple distilled, non-chill filtered, matured and bottled onsite and carefully crafted using the finest local ingredients.

Other products from the distillery that are also available in Malaysia are the small-batch Garnish Island Gin and Two Trees Vodka.

The gin takes its inspiration from the lush Italian gardens on West Cork’s Garnish Island, using locally foraged botanicals such as hibiscus, iris, rose, rosemary and thyme.

It has a soft, lingering glow on the finish with herbaceous and citrus notes, and just a hint of spice.

Two Trees is a triple-distilled, charcoal-filtered artisanal vodka produced from wheat.

Drinkers can expect peppery spiciness, followed closely by a harmony of sweetness and citrus from this spirit.
