Selangor eyes RM6mil revenue collection increase through new van fleet

THE Selangor government is targeting a RM6mil increase in revenue collection from quit rent (cukai tanah) and parcel rent (cukai petak) from the newly unveiled vans designated for tax collection purposes under its Land and Mines Office (PTGS).

The vans were presented by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to all nine district and land offices (PDT) in the state through their respective district officers.

"The vans are a form of outreach to assist the public to check and pay their taxes, particularly for owners and occupants of strata buildings," he said on Wednesday (Nov 27).

"With the vans, the state government is targeting a 1% increase or RM6mil in revenue collection from quit rent and parcel rent next year."

Amirudin said the vans have safety features such as CCTV units and dashcams, LED monitors and a more conducive interior layout for the comfort of the personnel on duty.

"PDTs will mobilise the vans around their respective districts based on their schedules and also station the vans at state events.

"There will also be collaborations with joint management bodies, assemblymen and councillors to have vans visiting their areas," he added.

The van handover ceremony was held on the sidelines of the state assembly sitting at Wisma Dewan Negeri Selangor, Shah Alam.

In a statement, PTGS said the nine new vans cost RM2.695mil.

The new vehicles would be used to replace the previous batch of vans that were prone to breakdowns after being in use for over eight years.

During the tabling of Selangor's 2025 Budget, Amirudin said the state had collected RM704.95mil or 94.52% in tax revenue as of mid-November.
