University chancellor conferred fellowship for his contributions


University of Wollongong Malaysia (UOW Malaysia) chancellor Datuk Seri Dr Michael Yam Kong Choy was admitted as a Fellow of the University of Wollongong, in recognition of his remarkable leadership.

The award also recognised his unwavering commitment to excellence and enduring contributions to education and society.

With over 40 years of distinguished service, Yam has made a lasting impact on business, education and public service, both in Malaysia and abroad.

Since his appointment as UOW Malaysia chancellor in 2021, his leadership vision has elevated the university’s reputation.

Through fostering meaningful relationships, strategic initiatives and academic excellence, he has strengthened UOW Malaysia’s position as a global institution.

Yam’s distinguished career across construction, real estate and corporate sectors has seen him serve as managing director and chief executive officer of two award-winning public-listed companies.

The UOW Malaysia award was presented by UOW Global Enterprises board of directors chairman John Green at the university’s convocation ceremony.
