Infrastructure upgrade works at Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, Jalan Syahbandar and the surrounding area of Port Klang is 97% complete with only premix works left to be finished, says Selangor local government and tourism committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim.
Ng said work started on April 12 and the project cost was RM797,361.
The project was supposed to have been completed last August.
He said this in response to Azmizam Zaman Huri (PH-Port Klang) who said he had raised the issue of lack of progress at least five times at previous state assemblies.
Ng said the upgrades would include sidewalks, repairs of traffic islands and medians, the painting of overpass piers, building bollards and landscaping works involving concrete pots and signs.
“There were delays but the project would be completed in a short while,” he said at the Selangor State Assembly sitting at Bangunan Dewan Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam.
He said upgrading works would continue in phases to also include landmarks as well as the demolishing of old stalls, which would be replaced with container stalls at a new location.
Meanwhile, the development of the Lembah Klang Raya project that combines Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang into a metropolis, was going according to schedule, said Ng.
“Various initiatives are being taken to harmonise laws and guidelines of these four cities to ensure sustainable and orderly development.
“In addition, the Selangor Greater Klang Valley (SGKV) temporary stewardship office through Menteri Besar Incorporation (MBI) is in the process of appointing a consultant to prepare for a comprehensive development plan, as well as a benchmarking study and drafting of enactments at an estimated cost of RM1.4mil.
“These documents are expected to be finalised in the second quarter of 2025,” he said.
