From snow to sport, explore captivating Kuala Lumpur
IT’S snowing in Kuala Lumpur! Avenue K returns with its AK Snow Event to send flurries of snow (fake, of course), over KL city centre.
You can enjoy this merriment until Christmas Day, with 15-minute sessions at 7.45pm on Thursdays, as well as 7.45pm and 8.30pm Fridays to Sundays and public holidays.
For a bit of a thrill, less than 1km (or one LRT stop) from KLCC is the Urban Skate Park.
With rails, ramps and quarter pipes, there is plenty of fun for self-propelled two, four or inline wheels, but do note that concrete does not make for a soft landing in case of spills.
In the historic heart of Kuala Lumpur, three LRT stops away, you can explore Masjid Jamek and Chinatown. Here is also the iconic Art Deco Central Market, upgraded with plenty of dining options but still full of art, craft and heritage.
Chilling in the city offers green options like KLCC Park, KL Forest Eco Park, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa (accessible via LRT-MRT) and TRX City Park (MRT).
Perdana Botanical Gardens (LRT-MRT) has the added sights of Taman Tugu, bird park, butterfly park and planetarium, while nearby is the environs of Dataran Merdeka and heritage buildings like Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad and KL Railway Station.
These sites are accessible via KL Hop-on Hop-off bus service too, which also covers places like National Science Centre, Istana Negara and Little India.
Just outside the city are interesting sights like Zoo Negara and Batu Caves, while farther out, the hills of Genting Highlands await those looking to (literally) chill.
