A TOTAL of 98 health clinics that were in poor condition, have been upgraded by Johor government to improve healthcare service and provide comfort to patients in the state.

“In 2023, 43 government health facilities were upgraded, and so far this year, 55 clinics have undergone improvements.

“The state government has also identified 45 clinics for upgrades in 2025,” said state health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon.

He said this in his reply to Datuk Pandak Ahmad (BN-Kota Iskandar), who asked about the status of health clinics and the state government’s plans for them during the Johor State Assembly sitting at Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri.

“One notable example is the Klinik Kesihatan Gelang Patah, which has received funding for various upgrades, including construction of a new patient waiting area, improved facilities for its Covid-19 assessment centre, and upgraded toilets,” said Ling.

“Following a surprise visit by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi on Oct 20 this year, additional plans were made to improve that clinic’s facilities.”

Ling said these included acquiring new medical equipment, furniture and IT equipment to replace outdated items.

To alleviate congestion, he said the state government was working on relocating the clinic’s mother-and-child unit to two rented shophouses, providing a dedicated space and parking area.

“For the long-term, the state government is working with the Federal Government to construct a new, larger Klinik Kesihatan Gelang Patah near the existing building,” he said. ― By MOHD FARHAAN SHAH
