STUDENTS of SMK St Elizabeth in Sibu, Sarawak, have been reminded to appreciate those who have supported them throughout their academic journey.

“While celebrating your achievements, do not forget those who have contributed to your success.

“We all rely on each other for growth. Always remain grateful to your school, teachers and parents for their support,” said Sibu Bishop Joseph Hii, who serves as the school’s board of management chairman.

Speaking at the school’s annual appreciation and prize-giving ceremony, Bishop Hii encouraged students to extend the same gratitude to the country.

He further advised students to view their studies as a calling and emphasised the importance of personal motivation.

“Be true to yourself. Study not just because your teachers and parents are watching, or to earn rewards, but for your own growth and benefit,” he said.

School principal Chee Hui Yiang highlighted the students’ exceptional achievements at international, national, state and district levels.

“We are proud to recognise our 25 top performing SPM 2023 students, each achieving at least 9As. In total, 89 students scored 5As and above,” she said.

Renee Kang Yan Han received the Sri Puteri Akademik Eliza 2024 award for her stellar performance in the SPM 2023 exam.

Joy Tang Ting was awarded the Sri Puteri Bakti Eliza 2024 award for being an outstanding all-rounder.

In total, 265 students were presented with award certificates during the ceremony, which also acknowledged the contributions of academic and non-academic staff.
