S’gor govt apologises over incident involving rapper at massage parlour

THE Selangor government has apologised over a recent incident where a local rapper claimed an enforcement officer secretly filmed her during a raid at a massage parlour in Subang Jaya.

“I would like to apologise for the incident involving Zamaera; there were some weaknesses, a mistake or a misunderstanding that took place,” said Selangor Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Sue Lim.

“As for the enforcement team operations, we don't have a clear standard operating procedure (SOP) on how these operations should be carried out.

“In this particular case, the operation was conducted on a massage parlour that did not have a valid licence.

“I don’t blame the girl as I understand it is her right (to act).

“But I will try to address the situation accordingly and take action to reduce further similar incidences from happening again,” added Ng during a briefing on the assessment rates at Wisma Dewan Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam on Monday (Dec 9).

Ng was responding to the allegations by Zamaera, whose real name is Sharifah Zamaera Syed Zafilen Al Edros, who claimed that she was filmed in secret by a Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) officer while she was in a state of partial undress during a massage at a centre in SS14, Subang Jaya on Wednesday, Dec 4.

She posted about the incident on social media and demanded an apology from the council.

She also wanted MBSJ to issue a statement on the SOP for operations at such establishments, and that they do not condone its officer's actions.

Last Saturday (Dec 7), Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the raiding team had been provoked during the incident and that Zamaera had failed to comply with instructions to show identification.

Both MBSJ and Zamaera lodged a police report after the incident went viral on social media.
