Swayed by hearty pies in Christmas buffet

PART of the appeal of a buffet spread is the variety of food options.

During the festive season, savoury pies are often served. Their charm lies not only in their richness but also in the convenience of single-serving portions.

These individually prepared dishes allow you to enjoy a variety of options.

One standout at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur’s Serena Brasserie is the Lamb Shepherd Pie, served in mini ramekins that make it easy to take one, enjoy and go back for seconds or even thirds!

The meat and vegetables are enveloped in a rich gravy and topped with broiled mashed potatoes, delivering a satisfying bite with a hearty, well-seasoned taste.

Equally delightful is the Caramelised Onion and Duck Pie, that’s also served in individual portions.

The tender duck filling carries a distinct gamey note, and is beautifully complemented by caramelised onions, which add a touch of sweetness to the richness of the meat.

Encased in a buttery, flaky crust, each personal serving feels like its own decadent treat.

Don’t sleep on the Crab Cakes either, which are a highlight on the buffet.

Each “cake” boasts visible chunks of tender crab meat, complemented by finely diced carrot and potato for a subtle sweetness and heartiness.

The crispy breading provides the perfect crunch, creating a satisfying contrast to the soft, delicate filling.

Paired with a smoky, slightly nutty romesco sauce, the dish is elevated even further.

While there will not be any turkey at the buffet table this year, guests can sink their teeth into an extensive selection of roasts like the slow-cooked Roasted Prime Oven-prepared Ribs, Baked Maple-glazed Pink Peppercorn Whole Chicken, Salmon en Croute and Truffle Herb-crusted Lamb.

The Holiday Extravaganza Dinner Buffet is available until Dec 23 and from Dec 26 to 30, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

The buffet is priced at RM268nett per adult and RM134nett per child.

For a special treat, the Joyful Tidings Dinner Buffet on Dec 24 and 25, is priced at RM318nett per adult and RM159nett per child.

Children aged five and below dine for free.
