THE Sultanah Fatimah Foundation (YSF) has allocated RM1mil for its food aid programme, which is expected to help around 4,000 needy families.
YSF chairman Mejar Cina Datuk David Wong Khong Soon said the foundation was also prepared to provide aid to Johor flood victims to alleviate their difficulties during the monsoon season.
He said the food aid would be distributed through the district offices and they welcomed any district office that would like to channel the assistance from YSF.
“The Yayasan Sultan Ibrahim Johor (YSIJ) recently provided food aid to flood victims, and YSF has allocated RM1mil for a similar initiative,” said Wong.
He was speaking after a discussion at YSF’s office in Southkey, Johor Baru, on the YSF Cup-International Acrobatic Lion Dance 2024 Competition.
Wong said YSF had allocated RM1mil to assist 500 needy students at Southern University College in Skudai, with an aim to ease their financial burdens and allow them to focus on their studies.
“We have also set aside RM1.5mil annually to support 3,000 B40 students from Chinese independent high schools,” he said.
Additionally, YSF sponsored RM7,500 for eight students from SMK Johor Jaya 1, Johor Baru, who represented Malaysia at the 5th World Innovative Science Project Olympiad 2024 that was held in Bandung, Indonesia.
A total of 18 teams took part in the YSF Cup-International Acrobatic Lion Dance 2024 competition held earlier this month.
Wong said there were teams from China, Hong Kong and Vietnam competing this year alongside those from Singapore and Malaysia.
