THE spectacular Light and Motion Putrajaya Festival (Lampu2024) which used the facade of the Palace of Justice as backdrop, kicked off the New Year’s Eve countdown before an equally impressive fireworks display.
The estimated 30,000 countdown revellers were also entertained by singers Hazama, Amir Masdi and Ziana Zain.
Azizul Hakim, a government officer who lives in Putrajaya, was overjoyed by the night’s events.
“To me, this is the best way to say goodbye to 2024.
“Putrajaya Corporation (Ppj), the organiser of the show, really did a good job,” said the father of five who was there with his wife and children.
Attending as guest of honour, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa was seen greeting and wishing some among the crowd a Happy 2025 after the clock struck midnight. She also took selfies with them. Accompanying her was PPj president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud.
Though Dr Zaliha did not address the crowd, she obliged the media with a short press conference where she said that events like this were a good way to promote tourism and for officials to build rapport with the public.
As for her plans in 2025, she said her ministry would promote Putrajaya as a clean, healthy, advanced, safe and eco- friendly city.
