FITNESS event FitFest made its debut in Kuala Lumpur, showcasing the diverse range of dance fitness genres that are popular and trending in the fitness and wellness industry.
Launched by Malaysia International Tourism Development Association deputy president Prof Datuk Azlie Halim, the event was organised by International Women’s Association Kuala Lumpur (IWAKL) and Anita Entertainment.
Featuring genres such as Zumba, Bollywood, K-Pop, FitHop, Piloxing, M’Vibes, Pound Fit, Poco Poco, Silat Gayung and African Rhythms dance, the event was held at Starxpo Centre, KWC Fashion Mall.
Fitfest, which aims to promote dance fitness as part of sports and wellness, was open to the public and drew 700 participants.
Dance fitness genres are suitable for people from all levels of society, regardless of gender, age or ethnicity.
Performances by Silat Gayung Fatani Malaysia and African Rhythms Group were among the highlights of the event, bringing a rich blend of traditional culture to the dance fitness showcase.
Attendees participated in the various dance fitness sessions.
Bikers from several states across Malaysia also turned up despite a downpour.
“FitFest proceeds will support the philanthropic initiatives for Orang Asli Clean Water Project and Wisdom Path Integrated School for underprivileged refugees,” said IWAKL president Sherrie Al-junied-Eitler.
“The energetic showcase and level of mutual support by the star dance fitness instructors was inspiring.”
Star dance fitness instructors including Muzry, Eleeza Zaaba, Farahin, Pound Pro Shakinah, Star Elite Piloxing Adi Raffy, FitHop ambassador May Myraz and Zin Iz Rijap were selected to highlight special features of each dance genre.
Sherrie said FitFest had set a new benchmark for fitness and wellness events, proving that integrating dance fitness, wellness and philanthropy in one vital mission was possible.
