A CELEBRATION of talent, unity and inclusivity brought together student choirs, special performers and young changemakers in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The Charity Mini Concert was organised as the first initiative under the newly launched ILMCI Global Youth Incubator, exemplifying the platform’s commitment to empowering youth and fostering a society that leaves no one behind.
ILMCI Global Youth Incubator was launched to empower the next generation of leaders in entrepreneurship, sustainability and innovation.
It equips youth with the tools, mentorship and opportunities to create real-world impact.
Sunway University School of Arts dean Prof Dr Mayco Santaella presided over the platform’s launch.
The event received support from Sunway University and its School of Arts, alongside backing from various government institutions such as Perpustakaan Awam Negeri Selangor represented by its director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad.
Dr Billy Tang, a trailblazer in sustainable agriculture, and Lim Annuar, a celebrated deaf artist, inspired the youth with their visionary approach to leadership and innovation.
Tang’s efforts in regenerative farming and Lim’s journey as an ArtPreneur embody the spirit of resilience and creativity that the platform seeks to instil in its participants.
“This platform is more than just a programme, it’s a movement,” said ILMCI Global Youth Incubator founder Michele Chow.
“We’re not just empowering youth to lead; we’re showing them how to create spaces where everyone belongs, especially those who are often overlooked.”
The concert delivered the message that special children are an integral part of society and their talents deserve recognition and celebration.
When these performers took to the stage, they captivated the audience with their courage and creativity.
They reminded everyone that inclusion is not just an act of charity but a reflection of a society’s strength and humanity.
“This event is a testament to the fact that special individuals have extraordinary talents that deserve to be seen and appreciated.
“They are not just participants; they are leaders, creators and changemakers in their own right,” said Chow.
The concert was conceptualised, planned and executed entirely by the platform’s youth “incubatees”.
“This concert reflects the potential of youth when given the opportunity to lead,” said one of the youth organisers.
“We wanted to create a space where everyone, no matter who they are, feels valued and included. This is just the beginning of what we can achieve together.”
The Charity Mini Concert brought together diverse performances that celebrated Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry.
Highlights included patriotic songs performed by student choirs, inspiring unity and love for the nation, and a live Malay art creation by Yeop Mie, showcasing endangered species like the tapir and the country’s flora.
There were also multicultural performances, including Indian dance and Guzheng music celebrating inclusivity and diversity, and a mesmerising rendition of A Million Dreams by nine-year-old Chow Rui Ting.
Proceeds from the event will fund green leadership initiatives.
