Meeting with facility management sought for project details

TRADERS at Larkin Sentral integrated terminal are urging Johor government to get their views before carrying out upgrades there.

Accessories shop co-owner Irene Wong, 64, said they were clueless about the upgrading project as the management never approached them on the matter.

“My husband and I only found out when you showed me the snippet about the project,” she said when met by StarMetro at her shop.

Wong said the upgrades should not only involve the bus parking bays and taxi stand but also the entire terminal.

“I am not sure if the RM2.5mil allocation for the project is enough if the state government is serious about upgrading the place,” she said.

She added that there were many important details which traders needed to know, including the duration of the project and whether it would lead to better business for them.

Likewise, Muzafar Abdul Samad, 34, also wanted project details and hoped the management would meet them.

The sales assistant at a shop selling jamu products, said getting feedback from traders was important as most of them had been operating at the terminal for years.

He said there were several issues that needed to be addressed, including the cleanliness of the common areas, potholes at parking bays and indiscriminate parking outside the terminal.

“The place is also becoming a place for people to sleep at night after the shops are closed,” said Muzafar.

Although there were security guards on duty who chased them away, they kept returning, he said.

“I don’t know if they are homeless or vagrants, but they are familiar faces in the terminal,” said Muzafar.
