THE new year began on a sour note for 10 commercial premises in Pandan Indah and Taman Melawati in Ampang Jaya, Selangor, after they were issued compounds for various offences during a New Year’s Eve operation by the authorities.
The operation by Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and the police involved spot checks on seven eateries, two hotels and one beauty centre.
The local council, in a media statement, said the offences included hiring foreign workers without a permit and operating without a licence.
“Five premises also had items seized for causing obstruction.
“This enforcement is carried out under Licensing, Trade, Commerce and Industries (MPAJ) 2007 and Food Establishment Licensing bylaws,” it said.
A total of 67 MPAJ personnel and 109 police officers from the Ampang Jaya district were involved in the joint operation.
MPAJ said it also worked with Pandan Indah traffic police to regulate the flow of vehicles at four hotspots in the municipality on New Year’s Eve.
These areas were Bukit Ampang, Bukit Permai, Panorama Bukit Antarabangsa and Jalan Wangsa 5.
“There was no complaint about traffic congestion received during the new year celebrations,” the local council added.
In a separate post online, MPAJ announced that property owners could check the status of their assessment tax appeals online or in person at its headquarters.
They may check online at www.mpaj.gov.my or by scanning the QR code provided in infographics shared on MPAJ’s social media platforms.
Those who prefer to check in person may do so at the council’s Property Valuation and Development Department at Level 12, Menara MPAJ in Pandan Indah.
The local council also said its free vehicle disposal service was still available.
Interested individuals may submit applications by calling 03-4285 7024 (MPAJ Enforcement Department), emailing penguatkuasa@mpaj.gov.my or dropping by MPAJ headquarters.
