PLANNING approval within 14 days for land development is a new goal set by the Selangor government.
State local government and tourism committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim said currently the process took between three-and-a-half months and six months.
“Delays often happen due to documentation issues.
“We want to find a way to circumvent red tape and ensure approval is given fast – within 14 days,” he told reporters after launching an engagement session on standardisation of best practices among local authorities under the Selangor Greater Klang Valley initiative.
Ng said they were looking at updating One Stop Centre 3.0 Plus guidelines on planning and land development approvals, to include the best practices.
“We also want to standardise the guidelines, to be used across all local authorities in the state.
“There is confusion among stakeholders when dealing with different local authorities, because the practices are inconsistent.
“The documents, processes and speed of service are different from one local authority to another,” Ng said.
‘Therefore, we are reviewing practices in local authorities to look for the best and see if it can be adopted by all.
“For instance, if we find that Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) or Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) fast track approval system is the best, we can implement it for all,” he added.
A total of 63 representatives from government bodies were involved in the two-day workshop in Pulau Carey, Kuala Langat.
Ng said Selangor wanted to attract investors to come to the state.
“They shouldn’t have to wait two or three years before building their factory.
“This workshop was to bring together all the relevant agencies such as the land office and local authorities to discuss problems and find a solution to achieve our goal,” he said.
Ng hoped the OSC 3.0 Plus guideline would be ready in six months.
