Stork delivers 10 newborns to happy parents at Iskandar Puteri hospital

Joy unfolds for 10 couples after the safe delivery of their newborns on New Year’s Day.

THE start of 2025 brought extra joy for 10 couples who welcomed their newborns at Columbia Asia Hospital – Iskandar Puteri (CAH-IP), Johor.

The arrival of the babies symbolised a fresh beginning for their families and CAH-IP alike.

The hospital’s first baby of the new year was born to banker Nur Fatin Adam, 33, and her husband Muhammad Nazirul Md Yusof, 33, an assistant manager.

The boy, who is their third child, weighed 3.04kg and was born at 3.03am on Jan 1.

The couple expressed happiness at the timing of their son’s arrival as his birthday will coincide with every New Year’s Day.

They had planned for a January delivery and were grateful for a memorable start to the year.

Later, at 2.17pm, first-time parents Teo Shi Han, 26, a housewife, and her husband Tan Choon Guan, 37, a crane operator, welcomed a boy.

Weighing 2.81kg, their newborn brought immense joy to the couple, who live in Taman Laman Setia, Gelang Patah.

The couple thanked the doctors, midwives and nurses.

The celebrations continued into the evening when a girl, weighing 2.86kg, was born at 5.41pm to Siti Nur Shahila Shamsuddin, 28, a housewife, and her husband Burhan Hakeem Abdullah, 28, a chef.

The new parents said they felt blessed that their daughter had arrived on such a significant day.

They expressed their heartfelt thanks to the hospital staff for their support throughout the pregnancy.

At 11.09am, auditor Lee Yi Shan, 28, and her husband Tan Wei Rong, 29, a relationship manager, celebrated the arrival of their first child, a girl weighing 3.31kg.

The couple, from Bukit Indah, Johor Baru, were grateful for the hospital care that led to their daughter’s safe delivery.

Later in the evening, another family’s New Year’s Day joy unfolded as teacher Kirthana Govindan, 29, and her husband Karthigesan Raman, 31, a technician, welcomed their first child at 7.42pm.

Their baby boy, weighing 3.21kg, was born after Kirthana was admitted to CAH-IP that day.

The couple, from Taman Nusa Bestari 2, Skudai, also thanked the hospital’s medical team for having ensured a smooth delivery.

Instrumental in overseeing the care of the mothers and babies were hospital consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists, including Dr Rajesh Mahendran Radha Krishnan, Dr Rohaini Md Jonit and Dr Hezrin Nazlin Mohamed.

Working alongside them were consultant paediatricians Dr Azhar Napis and Dr Razlina Johari.

They were supported by CAH-IP’s highly trained midwives and nurses who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety, and comfort of all the families.

Meanwhile, CAH-IP chief executive officer Dr Ding Eng Li expressed her excitement and pride at the successful deliveries.

“What a way to start the new year!

“We are thrilled for all the parents who welcomed their bundles of joy on New Year’s Day but, most importantly, we are grateful for the safe deliveries.
