KUALA LUMPUR: Film producer and actor Datuk Afdlin Shauki (pic) has denied allegations he was involved in misconduct involving a RM4mil procurement contract by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
Afdlin, a DBKL advisory board member, said the accusation, which circulated on social media recently, was an attempt to sully his name.
In an Instagram post on Thursday (Jan 30) night, the actor, who is also chairman of Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan's media arm Wilayahku, said he had lodged a police report on the matter.
“I also understand that it is being investigated internally by DBKL,” he wrote.
“Therefore, I urge all of you to allow the relevant authorities to carry out their duties.
“I am ready, willing and able to render my full cooperation in any investigation relating to this matter.

On Wednesday (Jan 29), Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif was quoted as saying that the DBKL integrity unit was investigating the award of a RM4mil project to publish creative content for DBKL, which was allegedly done without an open tender.
Maimunah also said she had cancelled a RM7mil project linked to the same board member upon assuming office last year.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) also told the media it would look into the matter.
Its deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said on Tuesday (Jan 28) that the officers would contact DBKL’s integrity unit.
He said the anti-graft body would investigate if there were elements of misconduct, power abuse and corruption.
