Selangor welcomes new state secretary, financial officer effective today


PETALING JAYA: Datuk Dr Haniff Zainal Abidin has been appointed the Selangor government’s new financial officer effective Monday (Feb 3).

He takes over from Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajudin, who was made the state secretary, also effective Monday.

Ahmad Fadzli replaced Datuk Haris Kasim, who held the position from Nov 1, 2021, to Jan 31, 2025.

The Selangor government announced the two new appointments in separate statements on Sunday (Feb 2).

It also congratulated Ahmad Fadzli while also thanking Haris for his service.

Ahmad Fadzli began his career in the civil service as a diplomatic and administrative officer in 1996.

The 53-year-old, who holds a PhD in business administration from Universiti Sains Malaysia, previously served as the Selangor government’s financial officer.

Prior to that, he served in various capacities including as president of the then Klang Municipal Council, among others.

He had also worked as assistant district officer and Perak central land and district office chief assistant, apart from serving with the Rural Development Ministry.
