SOME 21 patients of Hospital Slim River were surprised with a home visit by hospital director Dr S. Sivanandarajah.

He presented them with Rahmah baskets containing dried goods, flour, rice, bee hoon (rice vermicelli) and beverages.

Dr Sivanandarajah said this was the hospital’s first door-to-door visit.

“The hospital’s sports and welfare club had earlier collected funds for the initiative.

“It was an opportunity for us to learn about the needs and daily challenges faced by the patients,” he said in a press release.

“We asked them how they got to their appointments, their financial background, relationship with family members and also their opinion on the healthcare services provided by the hospital.”

Dr Sivanandarajah said the recipients were selected by the hospital’s clinical and medical welfare departments.

“They are regular patients who attend follow-ups for conditions like diabetes and other chronic diseases.

“I hope more such visits can be held in the future in conjunction with other festivals and international health-related celebrations,” he added.
