A KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) investigation into three enforcement officers involved in an altercation with a trader at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) is in its final phase.
In a statement Monday (April 7), DBKL said it would not issue further statements as the matter was also being investigated by the police.
"This step is being taken out of respect for the ongoing police investigation and to ensure it can proceed smoothly, transparently and without interruption," it noted.
The investigation was initiated following the March 28 altercation between the officers and trader Muhamad Za'imuddin Azlan, better known as "Abang Belon", for trading without a licence.
Following the incident, DBKL had, on March 30, said it had suspended the three officers pending investigations by both City Hall and police.
During a press conference on Monday, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that initial medical findings found Abang Belon suffered a fracture and soft tissue injuries.
"However, we are still waiting for the full medical report. The main focus of our investigation is his injuries and how he got injured," he was quoted as saying.
The police had received four reports lodged by DBKL, Muhamad Za'imuddin and his mother, said Comm Rusdi.
In a separate press conference on Sunday (April 6), Muhamad Za'imuddin said he had lodged a police report over the injuries he sustained during the altercation.
His lawyer Rafique Rashid said they are considering taking legal action once the full medical report is obtained.
