OVER the past few weeks, there have been a number of developments with regards to sexual crimes against children, which have, on the one hand, had me applauding the steps forward we have taken, but on the other, also lamenting the world view that some Malaysians are stuck in.

On April 4, the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 came into being, a milestone moment for Malaysia when the country finally came up with laws protecting anyone below the age of 18 from sexual abuse.
