No approval given for non-radioactive rare earth element mining in permanent forest reserves, says Natural Resources Minister


KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Energy and Natural Resources Ministry has not issued any mining approval for non-radioactive rare earth elements (NR-REE) in permanent forest reserve areas, says Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (pic).

The Natural Resources Minister said approval for areas other than permanent forest reserves is subject to evaluation and prior technical approval has to be obtained for the purpose.
