RECENTLY, a reminder online urged the public to report smoking offences to the Health Ministry through a dedicated WhatsApp number. Is said reporting mechanism available to the public?
VERDICT:
TRUE
The Health Ministry announced this in a post on its official Twitter account on Wednesday (Jan 18), saying that the public can file a report through a special line that it has prepared.
“Send your report directly through the Smoking Complaint line at 010-860 8949,” it said.
It added that the offences that could be reported include restaurants that fail to display non-smoking signs or patrons smoking at the eatery and explained what should be included in the report.
“Include the name of the restaurant, its address and the time and date of the offence,” said the Ministry.
