Zuraida to return to PN through Gerakan?

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin could be making her return to Perikatan Nasional but with Gerakan this time, say sources.

“Zuraida and a few other allies will join Gerakan after the state elections,” said a source close to the former plantations and commodities minister.

The source said this is also why Zuraida had been seen campaigning for Gerakan chief Datuk Dominic Lau in Bayan Lepas, Penang.

“There are candidates who are allied to her who are contesting under Gerakan, including the Bukit Gasing seat,” the source added.

Zuraida’s long-time aide D Nallan is Gerakan’s candidate for Bukit Gasing.

Earlier in April, Bersatu youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said Zuraida had applied to rejoin the party and added that her application was rejected because she refused to step down from being a minister when she left the party.

Zuraida, however, denied the claims and demanded for Wan Ahmad Fayhsal to retract his claim.

"This is not true. I only mentioned that I would support Perikatan Nasional in the coming state elections as I have always been for a multi-racial party, said the former Ampang MP.

Zuraida was formerly with PKR but joined Bersatu in February 2020 and left in May 2022 after talk of her joining PBM.

However, Zuraida was sacked from PBM in December 2022 after a spat with party president Datuk Larry Sng.
