IPOH: Two men attempting to steal Telekom Malaysia (TM) property while wearing shirts with the company's logo failed to get past police, who caught them in the act near a petrol station in Slim River, Tanjung Malim.
Muallim OCPD Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the men were spotted by a police patrol team from the Slim River station at 11am on Tuesday (Dec 5).
"The two men, who were clad in shirts with the TM logo, were opening a cabinet (where printed circuit boards or PCBs were housed) but fled when the police team approached.
"They left in a car with a false number plate, but the team gave chase and arrested the suspects after intercepting the car at Jalan Ibrahim Mohd Dom," he said in a statement Wednesday (Dec 6).
Supt Mohd Hasni said police also searched the car and found 21 units of TM PCBs and various tools and equipment used to prise open the TM cabinet.
They also seized two shirts with the TM logo and safety helmets worn by the suspects, he added.
He said the two suspects, aged 37 and 42, both from Selangor, would be remanded for investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
With their arrest, the police have been able to solve nine TM PCB theft cases in the Muallim district involving a loss of RM350,530, he added. – Bernama
