MELAKA: The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 3,396 compound notices issued throughout the 2024 Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which has been implemented since April 1.
State JPJ director Muhammad Firdaus Shariff said 10,003 vehicles were also screened during the duration of the operation which ended on April 20.
"There were 3,372 traffic offences detected during the operation and the offences where 871 cases were related to driving licences which saw an increase in offenders compared to 507 cases during a similar operation last year," he said when met at the JPJ's Hari Raya open house at Bukit Katil here on Thursday (April 25).
Muhammad Firdaus said there was also an increase in vehicle registrations, with 1,610 cases recorded compared to 919 in 2023.
He added that throughout the operation, 88 vehicles were seized, including six heavy vehicles and two cases of Competent Driving License (CDL) forgery were discovered.
