Johor govt working towards increasing civil servants income, says MB

JOHOR BARU: The Johor State Government is currently conducting a study to increase the monthly income of civil servants in the state, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic).

The Johor Mentri Besar said that this is on top of what Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced at the Federal level earlier this month in Putrajaya.

"We will go along with what our Prime Minister has announced, but at the same time, the Johor government is also conducting a study on increasing the salary of our civil servants.

"But we still need to see our financial position and ensure that it is enough, besides studying how much is necessary and when we can implement the matter, that is being studied at the moment," he said.

He said this when met at the Johor State Fishermen Association (Josfa) Annual General Meeting Officiating Ceremony and Hari Raya Open House at the New York Hotel, here, on Wednesday (May 8).

Onn Hafiz added that the state government would come up with a decision on the matter and make the announcement soon.

Meanwhile, on the programme, Onn Hafiz added that the state government had allocated RM2.5mil for 8,445 fishermen in the state and RM100,000 in aid for Josfa.

"The aid is for the association to come up with a study on how to increase the income of fishermen in the state so that they are not left out of the development," he said.
