Man killed in road crash in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed on the spot in a crash along Jalan Pintas Bulatan, Kampung Kopungit, here, just after midnight on Wednesday (Aug 7).

Initial investigation revealed that the car driven by the victim, identified as Bryan Dagul, 27, had veered off the road before crashing into a Telekom pole and a road sign along the road.

The Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said a team of 13 men, led by operations commander Masri Gari, rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12.26am.

They were assisted by policemen, medical officials and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd staff.

The team arrived at the scene, some 2km away from the Sembulan station, at 12.30am.

The statement added that the victim had to be extracted from the wrecked car by firemen using a specialised rescue tool.

He was pronounced dead by medical officials, and the case has been handed to the police for further action.
