Kelantan's Sg Semerak reaches warning level in Pasir Puteh, says DID


KOTA BARU: The water level of Sungai Semerak in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, has reached a warning level of 2.47m as at 8am on Thursday (Nov 21), compared to the normal level of 0.40m.

According to the infobanjir.water.gov.my portal, Sungai Golok in Pasir Mas is at an alert level of 7.19m, compared to the normal level of 5.0m.

All other rivers in the state are reported to be at normal levels.

On Wednesday (Nov 20), the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) under the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) predicted that about 20 villages in low-lying areas within 5km of Sungai Golok in Pasir Mas would experience flooding starting this Friday (Nov 22).

PRABN noted that the predicted flooding could occur earlier or later than expected, depending on significant rainfall in the area. – Bernama
