Call to make old longhouses national heritage buildings

BETONG: Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim is proposing that all traditional longhouses which are more than 50 years old be declared national heritage buildings.

This was one way of preserving them, he said yesterday, when speaking at the national-level Gawai Dayak open house at Rumah Wilson Begat Bakir in Penom, Ulu Paku, here.
