DNA barcoding can help in discovery of new freshwater fish


KUCHING: The use of DNA barcoding technique is expected to help in the discovery of new and undescribed freshwater fish in the country.

This is based on a recent study carried out by a group of researchers from Universiti Malaya’s Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology, Institute of Biological Sciences and Faculty of Science as well as Fisheries Department’s Freshwater Fisheries Research Division.
