MENTRI Besar Incorporated (MB Inc) has signed an agreement with an Australian Stock Exchange-listed company to start a joint venture project in mining silica rock quartzite in Perak.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the agreement would see that OM Resources Sdn Bhd (OMR) be awarded rights to conduct mining activities at Lawin, near Kenering and Lasah in Sungai Siput for the mineral, which could be processed into ferro silicon alloy used in manufacturing iron and steel.
