THE Education Minister’s speech (delivered by the Director-General of Education) at a summit last month, outlined a commitment to change the exam-oriented focus of Malaysian education to a holistic and diversified one. It is a step in the right direction for the future of education in Malaysia. 

Academics and the public alike have all criticised the focus on examinations.
