MQA gets new CEO


PROF Datuk Dr Husaini Omar (pic) is the new Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) chief executive officer.He took over from Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Rahmah Mohamed and began his term on June 1.

An engineering geologist with eight years of industry experience, Prof Husaini brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.A Universiti Malaya Geology graduate, he went on to obtain a Bachelor of Engineering Geology degree from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom in 1994, before obtaining his Doctor of Engineering (System Engineering) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2002.The 57-year-old started his academic career by joining UPM as a lecturer in the varsity’s engineering faculty in 1996, before being promoted to associate professor in 2002 and subsequently professor in 2011.
