Be proactive

Mohamad Ariff Fikri Ali.

“Coming from a single-income family and being the older of two kids, I have the responsibility of helping with the household expenditure. I am worried about the tough situation we are all in but I am trying to think of what I can do to make it better. I hope I find a job and gain as much experience as I can before starting a business with my friends. Fortunately, the agricultural sector is not as competitive as other fields.”– Mohamad Ariff Fikri Ali, Universiti Putra Malaysia final year Agricultural Science student

“This year is supposed to be full of opportunities as I’ll be graduating. I was planning on staying back in the UK after completing my degree to do an internship but Covid-19 happened and companies are cutting back on hiring. I have applied for internships in Malaysia but I have yet to hear from the companies. The uncertainty is making me feel very anxious and worried about my future. It doesn’t help that I have more time on my hands now that I’m done with my studies. I will keep applying for internships and jobs, and am open to opportunities from anywhere. Even if it’s not something I want to venture into, I would take it because it’s still an experience I could use in the future.”
