Celebration for the country’s ACCA Top Affiliate, ACCA & CAT Prize Winners
SUNWAY TES’ CAT and ACCA students have proven once again that being top in the nation and world is a possible feat.
A result of hard work coupled with a strong foundation provided by a reputable education provider, this proves that it is very possible to shine and rise to the top given the right guidance and attitude.
As testament to its quality of education, multiple world prize and Malaysian awards were achieved by Sunway TES for the ACCA September 2020 exam sitting.
The greatest achievement belongs to student Tan Xue Wern. Tan bested all the ACCA students in the whole nation and ranks first in Malaysia as the ACCA Top Affiliate.
“I was very surprised when I found out, and I’m very happy that my hard work paid off, ” said Tan.
The Top Affiliate title is awarded to ACCA students with the highest total marks for the four Strategic Professional exam subjects. Tan successfully accumulated 307 marks out of 400.
Tan, along with the other ACCA students, had to adjust to the online study mode due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It took some time getting used to classes online but having the recorded lectures available after the classes helped a lot. I can re-watch the parts where I find difficult to understand, and work it out on my own pace," added Tan.
Besides Tan, three other ACCA students are Malaysian prize winners. Chong Jia En, Koay Pei Pei and Lee Chye Yang are the top students in Malaysia for the ACCA subjects Performance Management, Advanced Financial Management, and Advanced Taxation respectively.
Chong chose Sunway TES to pursue ACCA for its successive 17 years’ platinum status award.
“In comparison with diplomas and degrees, ACCA is the fastest route to become a chartered accountant, ” said Chong who pursued ACCA through the CAT professional pathway with Sunway TES.
Koay who is currently attached to PwC Malaysia stated: “Studying ACCA part time allowed me to apply the knowledge in my job as a tax management trainee in PwC Malaysia, whereas at the same time also apply the working experiences to attempt the paper.”
Lee added: “Although this programme is challenging and requires persistence, it really provides a wide range of opportunities in the future career. I do recommend Sunway TES as all the ACCA lecturers are experienced. I have a good study experience here.”
The Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) students from Sunway TES have also done impressively. Lee Xian, Dahlia Md Sukor, Amanda Kiew Sook Kheng, Muhd Nuqman Nusair Zailani and Damia Ibrahim scored 100% in the subjects Recording Financial Transactions, Maintaining Financial Records, Management Information, and Managing Cost and Finance in their exams, and they are recognised as the best students in the World.
The CAT world prize winners Dahlia, Muhd Nuqman and Damia are Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera scholars pursuing the professional accountancy course with Sunway TES.
Dahlia who is pursuing her studies at the main campus of Sunway College said: “I had no accounting background back in high school, but I believe this course will give me good job opportunities in the future. I joined the CAT course in Sunway College because I am fortunate enough to receive the Yayasan Peneraju scholarship.”
Meanwhile, Muhd Nuqman and Damia are pursuing their studies at the Sunway College @Velocity campus.
“Sunway College is a reputable institution with adequate resources and facilities, ” said Damia.
“I am humbly grateful and extremely thankful to my family, Yayasan Peneraju, Sunway TES and my peers. I could not have achieved such results if it were not for them. My learning process has been extremely pleasant, and I enjoyed myself throughout the whole journey, ” added Damia when asked about her World prize award.
