I fell in love with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) when I entered secondary school. My interest developed further when I took pure science in Form Four. I hope to study computer science after completing my Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam. I feel that these subjects, including chemistry, biology and physics, help me understand life better. By learning these subjects, I know what is happening around us. In the ‘Gender Differences in the Interest in Mathematics Schoolwork Across 50 Countries’ study, the author observes that the achievement culture tends to drive interest in schoolwork down. I don’t think this is true for me because I learn and understand better when homework is given.
