Sunway TES provides students a job-guaranteed advantage

Students at Sunway TES enjoy a three-year training contract, and they can complete the final exam after they are employed, offering students high employment security.

JOB security and employability is an important aspect of career development for students preparing to graduate.

According to Sunway TES head of Certificate in Finance, Accounting & Business (CFAB) and Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Theresa Soh, the CFAB and ICAEW programmes allow students to gain early exposure at an actual workplace and provide job-guaranteed advantage.

Before completing the course, students are provided with a three-year training contract as part of the programme, offering students high employment security.

"In addition to academic knowledge, we also equip students with necessary soft skills through additional courses, such as interpersonal communication, teamwork and other capabilities, which cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence,” she said.

‘The programme has helped me learn how to think critically to solve problems and develop hard and soft skills essential in the workplace and our daily lives,’ said Choo.‘The programme has helped me learn how to think critically to solve problems and develop hard and soft skills essential in the workplace and our daily lives,’ said Choo.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Angeline Choo who hopes to become a professional auditor finds that the three-year training contract offered by the Sunway TES ICAEW provides students with the job security they need.

She added that the institution also has experienced lecturers to guide students in their journey and generous scholarships to support their studies.

“The programme has helped me learn how to think critically to solve problems and develop hard and soft skills essential in the workplace and our daily lives. I'm also able to approach work with confidence and step out of my comfort zone to try new things,” she said.

Choo began her journey at Sunway TES after completing her O-Level to study the CFAB and ICAEW programmes.

She completed the year-and-a-half CFAB programme, a three-month internship and is now studying ICAEW at Sunway TES having obtained a full scholarship for both programmes.

“The teaching method of the lecturers at Sunway TES makes it easier for students from different backgrounds – such as SPM, O-Level, A-Level – to understand and absorb. Through this programme at Sunway TES, I've learned more about practical topics related to reporting, auditing and applications of current technologies like data analytics while developing more business acumen.

“The CFAB programme has helped to build a solid foundation before progressing to ICAEW which smoothens the learning process. The programme also offers additional soft skills courses which allow me to improve my interpersonal communication skills and teamwork which are essential for my future success,” she said.

‘I hope I can enter the workplace as soon as possible. ICAEW provides me with the fastest entry into the working world via its work-based learning programme and training agreement,’ said Fan.‘I hope I can enter the workplace as soon as possible. Another outstanding ICAEW student is 20-year-old Justin Fan Jia Meng.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Sunway TES CFAB and ICAEW, following the footsteps of his sister with excellent grades in SPM 10 subject A, and received a full scholarship.

“Studying ICAEW guarantees employment, and my sister has never had to worry about finding a job,” he said.

This gave him enough confidence to pursue ICAEW.

“I hope I can enter the workplace as soon as possible. ICAEW provides me with the fastest entry into the working world via its work-based learning programme and training agreement.

“The practical and real-world experience you gain puts you miles ahead of your peers which is an advantage you would not want to miss out on especially in such competitive times,” he said.

Fan also appreciates the overall learning structure of the ICAEW programme as the step-by-step study method allows him to prepare well for exams and pass smoothly.

“The course provides students with a three-year training contract, which enables us to secure employment and also to be employed before completing the final exam.

“To label my journey with Sunway TES to date as just ‘positive’ would definitely be an understatement. From my perspective as a wide-eyed student looking to take his next major step into the future, what I needed was confidence and certainty.

“That is exactly what Sunway TES had to offer with decades of experience under its belt. There is a wonderful balance of internal and external subjects that are designed to equip students with both the soft and hard skills needed to excel,” he said.

Fan also shared that in Sunway, holistic education is emphasised and there is absolutely no shortage of activities, clubs and competitions to participate in to nurture a well-rounded future generation.

“Sunway TES offers just the right amount of guidance without spoon-feeding us, which is crucial in cultivating decision-making ability and accountability.

“I also hold my lecturers in high regard as they have become my source of motivation especially during challenging times. They have displayed a high level of commitment and passion which inspired me,” he said.

Students at CFAB and ICAEW programmes also enjoy a study-life balance and vibrant campus lifestyle with opportunities to build their social network while working towards achieving their ambition of becoming chartered accountants.
