TWO researchers have done Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) proud by being among the 2023 Emerald Literati Awards “Most Outstanding Reviewer” recipients.
Assoc Prof Dr Abdelhak Senadjki and Thavamalar Ganapathy from the varsity’s Faculty of Business and Finance were each honoured by Emerald Publishing for their support as paper reviewers for the International Journal of Social Economics, and the Journal of Business and Socio-economic Development, on Sept 14.
This is Abdelhak’s second Emerald Literati Award. He was recognised with the “Highly Commended Paper” award in 2019.
Describing the latest honour as a testament to the dedication and commitment he holds for the field of social economics and the rigorous peer review process, Abdelhak said the award reinforces his passion for academic research and underscores the importance of maintaining the highest standards of excellence in scholarly work.
“My contributions to the academic community extend beyond my role as a reviewer for the International Journal of Social Economics.
“I was also acknowledged as the top reviewer in 2022 for Cogent Economics and Finance, published by Taylor and Francis.
“This recognition is a testament to my dedication to the peer review process and my ongoing commitment to the dissemination of high-quality research within the broader field of economics,” said Abdelhak, who is also the recipient of UTAR’s E-Learning Excellence Award.
“As I reflect on these accomplishments, I am reminded of the importance of perseverance, dedication, and the pursuit of knowledge.
“I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of research, fostering academic excellence, and contributing to the vibrant academic community that has played a pivotal role in my journey,” he said in a recent press release from UTAR.
Thanking UTAR for giving her the opportunity to publish her work and participate as a reviewer, Thavamalar said the award for her contributions to the Journal of Business and Socio-economic Development reflects the commitment and work to her academic career, especially during her doctorate studies.
“I found the journal while looking for publications to submit my research articles.
“I decided to participate as a reviewer after seeing the value of constructive peer review in academic publishing,” she said, adding that Abdelhak’s guidance has helped her improve.
The Emerald Literati Awards is one of the largest, independent award schemes led by a publisher. It has recognised the outstanding contributions of authors and reviewers to scholarly research for 30 years.
The “Most Outstanding Reviewer Award” is presented to recognise the contribution made to ensure that every paper published makes a genuine impact on the academic field.
Reviewers are specialists in a given area of research and are well-placed to assess the soundness of an author’s work and share their own knowledge.
