Over 2,000 MSU grads receive scrolls

Congratulations: MSU graduates celebrating the momentous occasion.

Management and Science University (MSU) marked its 32nd convocation ceremony by celebrating not only the graduation of its talents, but also its recent feat of achieving a 99% graduate employability rate in the Higher Education Ministry 2021–2022 Graduate Employability Survey.

Bidding farewell to the graduating cohort of over 2,000 students at the event, MSU president Prof Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, in his speech, reminded those receiving their scrolls that this accomplishment was only the beginning and not the ultimate goal.

“This convocation ceremony symbolises the commencement of the subsequent phase, where the goal is to surpass the accomplishments of the past few years on campus.

“Embrace lessons derived from failures, recognising that success is not a one-time event.

“If you have already achieved victory now, you possess the capability to replicate it once more,” he said, adding that the varsity’s graduates are well-sought-after by industry with an almost 100% employability rate.

Characterising the day as an occasion to celebrate the dedication and hard work of MSU students, he said the event was also an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices and love of parents and guardians who have encouraged and supported the graduates in their journey.

The ceremony, held at the varsity’s campus in Shah Alam, Selangor, on Dec 9, saw 774 students from the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP) receiving their scrolls.

In addition, 442 students graduated from the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering; 437 from the School of Education and Social Sciences; 296 from the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA); 182 from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences; 171 from the International Medical School; and 130 from the School of Pharmacy.

Among the highlights included the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) conferring its inaugural Doctor of Philosophy (Applied Science) degree, as well as the School of Education and Social Sciences and the School of Hospitality and Creative Arts awarding degrees for the first time under their Bachelor in Education (Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Hons) and Bachelor in Beauty and Hair Management (Hons) programmes, respectively.

MSU chancellor the Regent of Kedah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin conferred the scrolls in the first of the four sessions.

The ceremony also saw 347 international students from 18 countries, including Indonesia, graduating.

Seventy-three graduates received “Best Student” awards in five categories.
