PUTRAJAYA: The Bumiputra Economic Congress 2024's inclusive approach will improve the quality of education for all, says Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.
He said this is in line with the ministry’s educational agenda, which is to strengthen the future of quality education for all students.
“We believe that by addressing the challenges faced by different communities during the congress, we can unlock the potential to enhance the quality of education and cultivate high-quality national talent,” he added.
Mustapha said this during the official launch of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia’s “Driven by Purpose” campaign on Saturday (Feb 24).
On Feb 15, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Bumiputra Economic Congress 2024 will opt for a more inclusive approach in addressing the bumiputra economy and also issues faced by other communities.
The Congress is scheduled to be held from Feb 29 to March 2 and is set to be attended by more than 3,000 participants, including those from the Malay, Kadazandusun, Dayak, Iban and Orang Asli communities.
On this, Mustapha said that the Prime Minister’s new approach aims to provide a new perspective as a whole, especially for the poor community.
“The issue of poverty for instance, is not limited to just the Malay bumiputra group; it also affects the Chinese and Indian communities.
“For example, when discussing the toilet issue, it is important to recognise that it affects not only national schools but also Chinese and Indian schools.
“Addressing the issue of poverty is a collective agenda that involves the entire community,” he said.
