KUALA LUMPUR: A documentary drama depicting the birth of the Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) and the challenges faced by its founders is set to premiere on Dec 2.

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) board of governors chairman Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy announced that the documentary, titled "The story of TARCians," also highlights "the older generation of TARCians".

"We are proud of our heritage and this institution's foundation that unites us as TARCians," he said during the soft launch of the documentary at the TAR UMT Kuala Lumpur campus on Thursday (Sept 19).

Chan, who is also TAR UMT Alumni Council chairman, added that there has been an overwhelming response to the documentary even before its release.

"We are all excited for this film as it is about the common denominator that binds us together as TARCians—our beloved alma mater, TAR UMT," he said.

Produced by the university, "The Story of TARCians" centres on how three Malaysians achieved tertiary education and the history of the notable local higher education institution.

It is also narrated by the alumni who attended TARC in the 1970s and 1980s, sharing their experiences seeking a brighter future through higher education.

The 90-minute film explores the early days before TARC was established, delving into the emotions, challenges, and obstacles faced by its founders and stakeholders.

The film is directed by Mark Lee See Teck, a prominent Malaysian director, filmmaker, and artist, and will be screened nationwide.
