Analysis: Muhyiddin’s political crisis defused by Covid-19

Thumbs up: Many Malaysians feel that Muhyiddin’s administration – supported by its health department – has done a good job in battling Covid-19.

THE raging novel coronavirus pandemic has infected over 4.3 million people and killed about 300,000 so far. Ironically, it may help lift Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin out of a brewing political crisis.

The country’s political temperature was raised recently after Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof allowed a motion by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to table a motion on a no-confidence vote against Muhyiddin.
