Analysis: Changes to ECRL imminent after Transport Ministry’s scrutiny


Dr Wee: Transport Ministry is proposing changes and refinements to ECRL.

THE East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) is in the spotlight again following news that the Transport Ministry is conducting a comprehensive review of the revisions made by the previous government on the rail line aimed at linking Kuantan Port and Port Klang.

The 640-km land bridge, which the Pakatan Harapan regime scaled down and realigned to cut cost to RM44bil from over RM60bil in 2019, has become a debatable issue again after politicians in the past PH government show disapproval to the Transport Ministry’s move.
