IT is vital that we look at a multitude of factors and not just the poverty income line (PLI) as the sole determinant of poverty.

According to Khazanah Research Institute deputy director of research Christopher Choong, the PLI is premised on the idea that households that fall below it cannot meet basic needs in money-metric terms. However, it is not the only measure of poverty.
