WHEN there is under-reporting of sexual violence and harassment by both men and women, or as witnesses, it is often due to the normalisation of male dominance and corresponding sexism, homophobia and transphobia in society, says Dr Sharon A Bong, who is Associate Professor in Gender and Religious Studies at Monash University Malaysia.

This normalisation can happen at home, in education institutions, at work, in public and even faith communities.
