PRESIDENT Joe Biden made a visit to the Middle East on the weekend of July 15. Since becoming US president in January of last year this is the first time he has made a visit there.
Most reports on the visit seem to focus on attempts by America to restore its leading role in Middle Eastern politics, which according to analysts seems to have been on the decline since 2020.
