DOE: Selangor has the biggest number of water pollution complaints

The recent oil pollution incident on Aug 11 involving Pahang’s Sungai Semantan due to a highway accident had forced the Langat 2 water treatment plant to halt operations temporarily. – The Star

MURKY, coloured, oily, foul-smelling water and dead fish found in rivers – these are among examples of water pollution complaints made by the public to the Department of Environment (DOE).

“A total of 3,235 water pollution complaints throughout Malaysia were received between 2019 and July 29 this year,” says the department.
