Official birthday celebration events for the King

IN conjunction with the official birthday celebration of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, a series of events have been meticulously organised this year.

As part of the royal celebra-tion, on June 1, a Yassin prayer recital and a doa selamat ceremony were held at Masjid Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

In addition, His Majesty attended a special sermon and participated in the Friday prayers also at Masjid Negara on June 2.

Sultan Abdullah also conveyed a heartfelt message for his official birthday at the Istana Negara, which was broadcasted live on television and radio on June 4.

The royal message on Sunday marked the final one from Sultan Abdullah as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as his tenure will end on January 30 next year.

The highlight of the celebration is the investiture of federal awards and medals, which will take place at the Istana Negara today.

The festivities continue with the Trooping the Colour ceremony, set to take place on June 10 at Dataran Pahlawan Negara in Putrajaya.

Traditionally, the ceremony would take place thrice during the five-year tenure of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong which would be in the first, third and fifth years.

However, in 2021, all events associated with the official birthday of Yang di-Pertuan Agong were postponed.

The decision to postpone these events was made by His Majesty, taking into consideration public safety and health, as well as the imperative to protect the lives of the rakyat and mitigate the worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, the Trooping the Colour ceremony for the third year of His Majesty’s reign was held in 2022 instead.

Meanwhile, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has a scheduled visit to Rumah Seri Kenangan, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur, on June 7.
